Support Groups
Support is important after an ovarian cancer diagnosis, and throughout treatment.
Online peer-support groups
A welcoming space to connect with others with a shared diagnosis of ovarian cancer, through monthly counsellor-facilitated peer-support groups.
Our support groups provide a friendly, safe space to connect with other people with a diagnosis of ovarian cancer. Participants tell us that it is helpful to have people to talk to outside their immediate networks who are going through similar things.
Each support group is facilitated by experienced counsellor Lisa Almand, and the participant numbers are small to create a friendly and personal environment. There is no obligation to attend every month; participants attend when they can.
The peer-support groups run using Zoom, an online video meeting platform, so you can access support wherever you live in New Zealand. If you are new to Zoom, let us know – we have a guide to help you get started. If you do not have access to the internet, you can dial in on your phone.
If you want to learn more about the online peer-support groups, you can book a 15-minute call with our facilitator, Lisa. During this call, Lisa will find out more about you and will talk you through how the groups work and what you can expect so you can decide if a support group is right for you.
