Ovarian cancer and Covid-19
We acknowledge the pandemic was a particularly challenging time for women living with ovarian cancer and that Covid-19 continues to be an issue.
Please note: this information was compiled during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Cancer treatment is essential and will continue regardless of which level of the Covid-19 Protection Framework we are in. If you are sick, the hospital is the safest place to be.
The Cancer Control Agency has published information on what cancer care will look like throughout the different levels of the pandemic.

Protecting yourself against Covid-19
Vaccination
The best protection from serious side effects of Covid-19 is vaccination; vaccination for Covid-19 is recommended for people with ovarian cancer. If you received your vaccination within six months of cytotoxic chemotherapy, your doctor may recommend an additional dose; this is different to a booster.

See the Cancer Control Agency website for more advice, including what to do if you are diagnosed with Covid-19 or a close contact. If you have received cytotoxic chemotherapy or radiation treatment within six months of developing Covid-19, you may be eligible for antiviral treatment to reduce your risk of severe complications; you should ask about these medications as soon as you’ve received your diagnosis.
