A message from Jane about our exciting new name – the Ovarian Cancer Foundation New Zealand.
It’s been almost six years since I started Cure Our Ovarian Cancer. Running a charity as a volunteer while navigating a cancer diagnosis isn’t easy – I am really proud of the inroads that we’ve made towards our goal of improved care, support for Kiwi women, and ultimately, a cure for ovarian cancer.
But it’s not enough to just do good work, as the recent closure of the New Zealand Gynaecological Cancer Foundation showed. That’s why we’ve been working on a strategy to strengthen our organisation.
Over the last few years, we’ve established a committed and qualified Board of Trustees whose experience spans finance, leadership, research and healthcare. And at the beginning of 2023, we welcomed our first team members, Whitney and Holly.
As part of our strategic plan, I’m proud to announce that Cure Our Ovarian Cancer will be known as the Ovarian Cancer Foundation New Zealand.
Our new name cements our position as a changemaker for ovarian cancer in New Zealand as we seek a future where every woman can live the life she wants free from ovarian cancer.
I want to acknowledge the support of community funder Pub Charity, who generously provided funding for the rebrand to ensure we are well-positioned to make the biggest impact for women living with ovarian cancer, now and into the future.
Our Board and I are excited about these changes which we’re confident will help take our organisation to the next level. I am so grateful for the support from our entire community and I cannot wait to see what we achieve together.
