New Zealand Ovarian Cancer Facebook Support Group

The New Zealand Ovarian Cancer Facebook Support Group is an independent support group with over 200 members from the ovarian cancer community. It is a supportive space for women to share their experiences and connect with other women with ovarian cancer.

The group was set up by Rachel Wilson, a tireless advocate who lost her mother to ovarian cancer and is supported by Lisa Finucane and our founder, Jane Ludemann.

1737 Need To Talk

The 1737 team provides brief counselling support to identify key issues, help plan some next steps and connect you with more comprehensive support services if needed. 1737 is not a crisis team or a mental health service for people with severe mental illness or psychological distress.

Talk Peach Gynaecological Foundation

Talk Peach Gynaecological Foundation is New Zealand’s gynaecological cancer awareness charity, founded by ovarian and uterine cancer survivor, Tash Crosby.  

Talk Peach educates the community about gynaecological health, and the signs and symptoms of the five gynaecological cancers, and they provide information and support for people diagnosed with gynaecological cancer.

PINC & STEEL

PINC & STEEL provides support to people affected by cancer, helping them take the first steps on the road to recovery. They offer a range of physiotherapy and exercise services nationwide, along with financial hardship grants.

Thanks to fundraising by an amazing supporter, from April 2024, OCFNZ is proudly funding a number of rehabilitation sessions for women living with ovarian cancer, through PINC & STEEL. Contact PINC & STEEL to find out more. 

Cancer Society

The Cancer Society offers a variety of support for people affected by cancer, including cancer support groups , counselling , one-on-one support, and their coping with cancer video series.

Hospice

Hospice New Zealand offers free and comprehensive services for anyone with a life-limiting illness. You can find your local hospice to learn about the support services they provide. 

TimeOut Holiday Homes

TimeOut partners with holiday homeowners willing to donate a stay in their home to people with life-limiting diseases; this gives families and friends a chance to connect and create lasting memories, and gives women living with ovarian cancer an opportunity to take time to themselves.

Child Cancer Foundation

The Child Cancer Foundation supports children aged 0-13 who are diagnosed with cancer and their families. They provide personalised support in five main areas: emotional well-being, practical/financial support, social connection, building resilience and moving forward; this can look different for each family, but some examples include counselling, personal development grants, petrol vouchers, grocery deliveries, online group support programmes and peer-to-peer support through nationwide Whānau Connect Groups.

Canteen

Canteen supports children aged 13 – 24 impacted by cancer; this includes young people who have been diagnosed with cancer but also those impacted by a loved one’s diagnosis or bereavement – including siblings, parents, grandparents and partners. CanTeen provides opportunities to meet other rangatahi who have had similar experiences. They hold recreation events, camps, and online services and offer one-to-one support through psychological clinicians and youth workers.

Anyone can self-refer to Canteen or refer someone they know with consent via the Canteen website.

Kenzies Gift

Kenzie’s Gift supports the mental health of tamariki and mātātahi (young people) affected by serious illness or grief. They provide one-on-one therapy with registered mental health professionals, support kits, and extensive online resources.

Support Crew

Support Crew is a free online support platform that allows you to co-ordinate meals and support for family and friends in need.

Surgical Menopause New Zealand

Surgical Menopause New Zealand is a resource for women undergoing surgical menopause, offering support and direction throughout their journey.

Cancer Support New Zealand

Cancer Support New Zealand provides a wide range of classes designed to support both the physical and emotional wellbeing of those facing cancer. Their services include movement and mindfulness sessions, confidence and emotional support workshops, and appearance and self-care guidance.

Their programmes are available at any stage of a cancer diagnosis and are delivered both online and in person across New Zealand.
